Canvas
The canvas is the main workspace where you build and visualize your data transformation workflow.
Overview
The canvas displays your workflow as a graph of connected tools. Each tool is represented as a node, and connections between tools are shown as wires.
Navigation
Panning
- Mouse: Click and drag on empty canvas space
- Trackpad: Two-finger scroll
Zooming
- Mouse wheel: Scroll up/down to zoom in/out
- Trackpad: Pinch to zoom
- Controls: Use the zoom buttons in the bottom-left corner
Fit to View
Click the "Fit View" button in the canvas controls to automatically zoom and pan to show all tools in the current workflow.
Selecting Tools
Single Selection
Click on a tool to select it. The selected tool:
- Shows a highlighted border
- Opens its configuration in the right panel
- Can be moved, copied, or deleted
Multi-Selection
- Click + Drag: Draw a selection box around multiple tools
- Ctrl/Cmd + Click: Add or remove individual tools from selection
- Ctrl/Cmd + A: Select all tools
Deselecting
- Escape: Deselect all tools
- Click on empty canvas: Deselect all tools
Moving Tools
Drag and Drop
Click and drag a tool to move it. When multiple tools are selected, all selected tools move together.
Arrow Keys
Use arrow keys to nudge selected tools:
- Arrow keys: Move by 10 pixels
- Shift + Arrow keys: Move by 1 pixel (fine adjustment)
Alignment
When multiple tools are selected, right-click to access alignment options:
- Align Horizontally: Align centers horizontally
- Align Vertically: Align centers vertically
- Distribute Horizontally: Space tools evenly left-to-right
- Distribute Vertically: Space tools evenly top-to-bottom
Adding Tools
- Find the tool you want in the Tool Palette
- Drag the tool from the palette onto the canvas
- Drop it where you want it placed
The tool appears at the drop location, ready to be configured and connected.
Deleting Tools
- Delete/Backspace: Delete selected tool(s)
- All wires connected to deleted tools are automatically removed
Context Menu
Right-click on a tool or empty canvas to access contextual actions.
Grid and Snapping
Tools snap to an invisible grid when dragged, helping you create aligned, organized workflows.
